About Fussell’s Shop

In 1936, Norman Fussell and his wife, Billie, had a dream of opening their own business. From that dream, Fussell’s Dry Goods opened on Main Street of Dickson in March of that same year. The first location was where the current suit department is now at Fussell’s Shop. Later, with an expanded staff and more merchandise, Fussell’s moved across the alley to 115 N. Main Street.

Mr. Norman and Mrs. Billie had three daughters, Anne, Norma Jean and Carol. After 44 years of business, Mr. Norman passed away in April of 1980.  He left behind a vibrant functioning business that he had dedicated his life to. After the passing of Mr. Fussell, ownership of the business went to his three daughters.  The management and operation of the business was run by his daughter, Anne.  By September of 2013, Mrs. Anne retired and she and her sisters sold the business to another local family.

Tim Spann, the current owner, bought the business from the Fussell family. Tim and his wife, all born and raised in Dickson County, are now operating the clothing store, still by the same name… Fussell’s Shop.

Although the prices of some of our clothing have increased from the prices of 1936, the value is still the same after more than 80 years of business. The Fussell’s name is still on the door and the dreams of Norman Fussell are being kept alive by its owners and faithful employees.
