OUR STORY

About Fussell’s Shop

In  1936, Norman Fussell and his wife, Billie, set out to fulfill a dream—opening a store of their own in Downtown Dickson, Tennessee.  That dream became a reality when Fussell’s Dry Goods opened  on Main Street in March of that year.

The original store first operated in the space that is now home to the suit department at Fussell’s Shop.  As the business grew, it moved across the alley to 115 N. Main Street, expanding both its team and its selection.

Norman and Billie raised three daughters—Anne, Norma Jean, and Carol—while building a business that became a staple of the Dickson community.

After 44 years in business, Mr. Norman passed away in April 1980, leaving behind a thriving store and a legacy of dedication and service.  Following his passing, the three daughters assumed ownership, with Mrs. Anne leading the business for more than 30 years.  Under her management, Fussell’s continued to grow and serve generations of customers.

In 2013, Mrs. Anne retired, and the family made the decision to pass the torch.  Later that year, Dickson County native Tim Spann and his wife, Jennifer, purchased the business, proudly continuing the tradition while keeping the Fussell’s Shop name.

Though prices and fashions have changed since 1936, the heart of Fussell’s remains the same.  For the past 90 years, the name on the

door has stood for quality, service, and community.

We invite you to stop in and experience for yourself what Fussell’s Shop has been all about for generations.
