OUR STORY
About Fussell’s Shop
In 1936, Norman Fussell and his wife, Billie, envisioned opening their own business. This dream became a reality when Fussell’s Dry Goods launched on Main Street in Downtown Dickson, Tennessee in March of the same year. Initially situated where the current suit department stands at Fussell’s Shop, the store later relocated across the alley to 115 N. Main Street, with an expanded team and more products.
Mr. Norman and Mrs. Billie had three daughters: Anne, Norma Jean, and Carol. Following 44 years in business, Mr. Norman passed away in April 1980, leaving a thriving legacy he had devoted his life to. After his passing, their three daughters took over ownership of Fussell’s Shop. Mrs. Anne took charge of managing and running the business for over 30 years. During those years, Fussell’s grew and flourished under her management. In 2013, Mrs. Anne retired, prompting her and her sisters to sell the business. Tim Spann, the current owner and a Dickson County native, along with his wife Jennifer, purchased the business in September 2013, keeping the name “Fussell’s Shop” intact.
Despite price increases in some clothing items since 1936, the essence of the business remains the same after 88 years. The Fussell’s name still adorns the door, and the vision of Norman Fussell lives on through its dedicated owners and employees. We hope you take time to stop in and see for yourself what we are all about!
